SM7B har i senere tid fått en betydelig renessanse. Den er mange studio og PA-teknikeres problemløser, fordi SM7B gir en helt særegen nær og varm lyd. Brukes blant annet til radio, vokal, instrument, PA, basstromme. Shure SM7B kan man ofte se i bruk til vokal i studio, hvor dyre rørmikrofoner står ubrukt ved siden av. Den er også suveren til trompet.

Shure SM7B ble opprinnelig designet for bruk i radiostudio, men er i dag også kjent for å være en problemløser for vokalopptak i studio. I kombinasjon med en god mikrofonforsterker, sitter vokalen i miksen som spikret midt mellom høyttalerne.
